Fundraiser for Dell Children's

This past Thursday, UT Dance Marathon and the Texas Lassos hosted a fundraiser for Dell Children's Medical Center on the Back Porch. Lee County Line, an up and coming TX country band played and we were flippin burgers on the outdoor grill. Everything went great except for a few instances when our not-so-friendly neighbor called the cops on us for having a band. I thought this was Austin, the live music capital....and it was for charity. Anyway, I won't get on that subject.

I love hosting fundraisers so if anyone has any great ideas, send them to me. We can plan one together!

This Just In! Buffalo Chicken Addicts

Are you obsessed with buffalo sauce or know anyone who is? I happen to have two close friends (identities not disclosed for the protection of those involved) who crave buffalo sauce everyday. Quote from anonymous "I wake up every morning craving buffalo sauce. It's an obsession I cant control...." Well there you have it folks, real life, real people and real issues.

If you or any of your loved ones needs their fix, please call 512-432-5390 and The Hub's friendly staff will be there to take your order.

See picture of our crispy (never soft) wings covered in our very own sauce. You may leave asking yourself, "Am I in Austin or Buffalo?"

*Disclaimer: The Hub is not responsible for any addiction that may develop due to our mouth-watering chicken wings. Please consume at your own risk.

Meet Our GM

Ohhhh what to say about Chris...we fight like brother and sister but at the end of the day, we make up and get our work done. I think it's important to work with someone who can call you out and vice versa then you move on and go from there.

Chris is an important part of The Hub. He keeps it going, works long hours and has to put up with us emotional Utt women. We love having him in the family and I can't wait to see what comes next.

1. Where did you grow up? Chicago, Hyde Park to be specific (we have a nice neighbor):)
2. What's your favorite part about working at The Hub? The interactions with our guests, from our daily regulars to first timers. Being a part of a real family at The Hub, from working with the owners everyday, going to their house for Thanksgiving, to training each new employee. It's a true pleasure to come to work.
3. If you had $10,000 what would you do with it? As this point, donate it to The University of Texas to help keep the Cactus Cafe open!
4. If you could have lunch with a professional athlete, who would it be? Although he's passed on it would be Ted Williams, he was my father's hero.
5. If Guy Fieri came to The Hub, what would you suggest he try? WHEN Guy comes into the Hub, no brainer, The 24 oz Hubmongous Burger. Good Answer!

There's No Business Like Family Business...

Michele: That's Me!

Hi everyone! My name's Michele (with one "L") and my parents own
The Hub, a restaurant in the North West Hills of Austin, Texas. I work for the restaurant and wear many different hats. My main job titles are marketing director and event coordinator, but I also do some graphic design, website upkeep and I open up the restaurant twice a week. I graduated from Texas State (Eat 'Em Up Cats) with a BBA in management with an entrepreneurial concentration. Never knew I would venture into the marketing world, but I'm loving it so far. Event coordinating has always been my passion and it's safe to say I'm pretty darn good at it...but oh so humble at the same time.:)

I literally just decided I wanted to do this blog yesterday so here I am. I'm not a professional writer and may not always be "PC" but I want you to get to know me and I want to get to know you. How many of you receive newsletters from various restaurants or stores everyday and don't feel a personal connection with them or a loyalty to the place? Probably almost everyone out there. I feel the same way and hit the "delete" button without thinking twice. If you knew the story and person behind the newsletter it may help you feel connected to that place and want to go check it out. That's the way I see it anyway. I may be right and I may be wrong, but either way I need this creative outlet and am going to write my little heart out even if my friends and family are the only ones reading it...because they have to.

Meet The Owners: Pat & Hutch

My parents are from WV. Let's gooooo Mountaineers! Soon after I was born we moved to Cincinnati where I grew up. My dad's an entreprenuer and has worked hard for everything he has. I've always looked up to him for his knowledge in the business world and dedication to his family.

My mom has always supported my dad in his business endeavors and took care of my sister and I at the same time. We were lucky to grow up with all our aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparent from my dad's side, who all lived in Ohio. My mom's mom and our aunts, uncles and cousins all lived in WV so it wasn't a far drive to see them either. My mom stayed at home with us and from what I can remember, her time was dedicated to my sister and I, Christian Woman's Club and my dad's businesses....maybe Bunco sometimes too!

We took over The Hub almost 2 years ago and I've never seen her work this hard in my life. She's a lady of dedication and has invested all her time and energy into our restaurant. I pray that the hard work pays off for all of us and that The Hub will be booming in no time. My passion and motivation behind my work is to see The Hub make it in this city where there are so many options for places to go and eat. I may be biased, but our burgers and fries along with many other items are better than a lot of those out there with established credibility. We've put a lot of thought along with trial-and-error into the menu and it may always be a work in progress, but it's close to perfection now. Why don't you come and check it out for yourself!:)

My Sister: Laura
Laura was born 3 1/2 years after me in Cincinnati. While we fought ALL the time growing up, we still have that sisterly bond that will never be broken.

We both have the same hopes for our parents and family is the most important thing to both of us after God. We try to go over to the house or meet up for dinner whenever we have time. We're lucky to have parents who live so close.

Another commonality between the four of us is our faith. We believe in the power of prayer and take it seriously. If there is one factor that is going to determine whether we make it or break it here, it's God, so we better be looking up to Him before making decisions in our business and personal life.

The Grammy's are on tonight and I hope everyone enjoys their Sundays! Ta-Ta for now...
